How’s the Housing Market?

The Bay Area is one of the most expensive places to live in America. In fact, it has more multi-millionaires than any other metropolitan area on earth. Yet for all its wealth and glitter, it also has more poverty than almost anywhere else in the country. And soaring housing prices are a big reason why that’s true.

The median sale price for a home in San Francisco now exceeds $1 million, which puts a place like Alameda – just across the bay from SF – out of reach for many working people who have been priced out of gentrifying neighborhoods. With rents going up as well, workers with families often find themselves living far from their jobs because they can’t afford anything closer to work.
